    Hi Lee
If this is a joint effort you should both go to the doctor’s together so he can refer you to a specialist clinic.
there are ways of checking these things further not just by one person doing the checking.
there are sex hormone treatments for both male and female so don’t give up until it’s been confirmed beyond a shadow of doubt.
    by professional people.

it means a lot how old you are lee. when a man gets up in yrs. sometimes they are not as fertile as they were in their younger yrs.

I would go to see a Doctor for sure. Only he can tell you what you want to know.

Calm down. Before you rush to any conclusions do this, make an appt with a Reproductive Speacialist. The rule of thumb is that couples trying for 1 year should do so if conception hasnt happened. Your girlfriend will go through a battery of tests to determine if she is ovulating and how good her egg reserve is as well as hormonal levels. They will also perform a semen analysis on you. It could be something very simple and correctable so dont panic yet. Start taking a multi-vitamin for men daily and use common sense. No smoking, excessive drinking, tighty whiteys, etc. Try to eat leafy vegetables and drink lots of water. Keep yourself healthy and your little guys will be too. So dont freak out. Call the Dr. and get the tests. Good luck and I am sure you will be just fine.

Go to a reproduction specialist. I don’t know about tests or anything, but a doctor is a safe bet in this situation. Also, I would have no idea what might be the reason for this infertility, so I couldn’t tell you what options there are. But a doctor can.

You and your girlfriend should both see your doctors for tests. There are many reasons why the two of you haven’t achieved pregnancy. Don’t stress (that won’t help things).

Don’t panic. These tests can be easily messed up if you didn’t follow the instructions 100% to a T. Also, these tests cannot test the motility (movement) of the sperm or the morphology (the appearance such as tails, head etc).

Since you’ve been trying for 18 months it would be a good idea for you to see your GP to have a semen analysis done and also for your girlfriend to have hormone levels etc checked.

The rule of thumb is that 90% of couples will conceive within 1 year of trying, another 5% will conceive within 2 years and the remaining 5% require investigations.

Having said that, it is better to see your doctor sooner rather than later as if everything is ok then your minds will be put at rest.

Try not to worry too much – there are lots of things that can be done to improve sperm quality and modern medicine has many solutions to problems so no need to give up hope!

Wishing you the best of luck and sending lots of babydust your way.

    Indigo
