can a inguinal hernia surgery lower your sperm count?

ok my husband and i have been trying to have a baby for some time now.But for some reason we have had no luck, i mean i have gone to the doctor i have been poked and jabbed etc..Well, my mom called me and told me to look up inguinal hernia surgery cause she heard that if you have a inguinal hernia and have surgery it can lower your sperm count.or it can have something to do with us having trouble conceiving. or is there a site i can look up and it can answer all my questions about it. I was wondering if that was true, and if its not what should we do to get him checked. its kinda hard cause he has no health insurance. PLEASE HELP, I AM NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER.. THANK YOU,, very sad!!!!!!!!!!!!1
